Should You Take Your Child In A Travel Pram When On Holiday?

Your baby or young child’s first holiday is a huge milestone, but also one that can cause more than a little stress when it comes to the difficult choices you need to make.

Besides ensuring that you have everything with you, including a change bag, formula, soothers, cuddly toys, medicines and anything else that you cannot be without.

The biggest question, however, concerns the biggest piece of luggage and baby equipment to take. Should you take a pram with you, should you buy it outright or rent it, and which pram should you take?

Whilst there are other options, in general you will want to take a travel pram with you if you are planning on travelling long distances on foot, have plans to go on a night out or have plans beyond your baby’s bedtime, and your child either cannot walk or can only walk short distances.

If you are taking a pram, however, make sure you take into account travel arrangements and make sure it can fold down flat. For example, TUI Airways allows pushchairs to be checked into the hold for free but will count as a piece of hand luggage if taken onto the plane.

As well as this, factor in the type of holiday you plan to go on. A pushchair or travel pram is perfect for a city break but might be far less suited to a ski resort, travelling on a nature hike or travelling around somewhere with cobbled streets.

Sometimes a carrier can be a better choice, although this will all depend on where you are going, what you are doing, and where your baby feels most comfortable sitting and sleeping.

However, when going on holiday by plane, avoid bringing an expensive pram with you, as it will be jostled and thrown about by airline staff.
